Sustainable Development Goal 16

Promote just, peaceful and inclusive societies

Goal 16 of the Sustainable Development Goals is dedicated to the promotion of peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, the provision of access to justice for all, and building effective, accountable institutions at all levels.

Our View:

The youth population (people between the ages of 13-21) are such a large segment of the overall population that they must play a significant role in nation- building and creating a more just, peaceful and inclusive world. Collegiate Internationals (CI) views SDG 16 as a fundamental base of all its objectives. CI plays an important role in bringing together students from all walks of life. The team of Collegiate Internationals is made up of students from all over the world. We make sure that their voices are heard.

Peace is the primary objective. Our vision for a peaceful society is possible only if we understand any deficits in our communities, and then rectify them. Our research has found that the cause of unrest and tension is a lack of knowledge about other cultures and traditions. CI believes that it is possible to achieve peace in a globalized world through educating students and youth about other nation’s cultures and commonalities. We thus invite UN Diplomats and global leaders for a non-political, academic forum: The Diplomatic Forum. This gives young people a chance to learn from and about other nations in a way that fosters similarities and understanding, allowing for young people to help build a more peaceful world.

UN Target:
